The Upgrade Process:
Step 1 – Booking & Assessment:
Bring the device into one of our stores and a member of our helpful team will book your device in for an assessment.
We will assess your machine before any upgrades are carried out. This enables us to provide you with an accurate quotation and timescale to perform the works.
Assessments for Windows devices cost ÂŁ20, and Apple devices cost ÂŁ25.
Step 2 – Quotation:
Once assessed we will be in contact to let you know what your options are, and how much it will cost to upgrade in terms of parts (if required) and labour.
If you go ahead with the upgrade at the quoted price then the original assessment fee is wavered. If you choose not to go ahead with the upgrade then you will only pay the assessment fee.
Step 3: The Repair:
Our engineers will order the parts if required and complete the upgrades to the highest standard and test your machine. We will then contact you to collect your machine upon payment.
Currently we estimate to have upgrades completed within 1-3 days, unless otherwise stated at the point of booking. However in some cases; especially where parts are on order or lengthy hardware tests are ongoing, this can be delayed.

- “My old computer is getting slow, how can it be improved?”
- Older desktops and laptops often have mechanical hard drives for storage which can slow down with age. One of the most common upgrades we do here at Zen is an SSD, (Solid State Drive), upgrade. A solid state drive stores your data in computer chips which are far faster than any mechanical/magnetic storage medium. An SSD upgrade can improve boot times dramatically and also improve responsiveness of your machine. The difference is night and day. We can often clone your existing hard drive to an SSD so that you don’t even have to reinstall your software.
- “My PC no longer supports the latest computer games…”
- If you are unable to run the latest computer games on your machine we can help. We offer a range of options when it comes to gaming machines, from CPU (processor) and memory upgrades to new GPU (graphics card) upgrades. If your motherboard is too old to support an upgrade then we can also build you a whole new PC.
- “Are upgrades covered by a warranty?”
- Our upgrades are performed to the highest standards which enable us to offer a 90 day warranty on labour, 90 day warranty on refurbished parts used in any repair, and 12 month warranty on any new parts used in the repair. We will always discuss and agree with you about the status of the parts used, so we’ll always tell you if we need to use new or refurbished. For more information view our service warranty terms.

After pouring a cup of coffee on my laptop (dont ask) and tipping it immediately upside down I hoped for the best but no, definitely damaged, black screen etc. I took it into Zen; they were very sympathetic and they hoped to help. First of all changed the mother board and then we could see if it did the job. OMG it worked! It was away for about a week but I went from hating my stupidity to eternally grateful for their care, communications and work.
